Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, I moved to Seattle over ten years ago. The essence and energy of urban environments inspire me. Umbrella blues, stoplight reds, rainy evening purples and taxicab yellows fill my palette. I like to observe the connection between nature and man in the context of life in the city. I work to capture the tension between organic and inorganic elements through the juxtaposition of light and color. I work in a variety of mediums and experiment with different styles because this helps me to discover new aspects of watercolor, my main medium. It also allows me to express a range of moods in my work. I paint my subjects according to the seasons of nature, because there is such a vast difference in our perception of light and color at different times of year.
